Younes, a 39-year-old man of Moroccan origin, was with his friends and his partner at the El Muelle café in the town of Mazarrón when Carlos Patricio B. M., a 52-year-old former soldier, began to scold one of the waitresses for talking “to a group of Muslims”. According to witnesses, “Younes stood up and defended her”, and the attacker left. A short time later he returned to the premises armed with a pistol and fired three shots at Younes, ending his life. The killer had expressed his contempt for people of Maghrebi origin: “I don’t want Moors in the premises. You Moors shouldn’t be here”, he said.
